  • Terrible night for Tuukka: Another game where goaltender Tuukka Rask looked very shaky. With each appearance it’s looking more and more like he conditioning stint in Providence that was canceled abruptly due to COVID should have just been delayed. Ullmark and Swayman would have been okay and it’s clear that Rask needed those games. I assume he will be in net Friday vs the Coyotes, and it will be a good time to get some momentum vs a less than stellar Arizona team.

  • Good Oskar: The new Bruins third line of Jake DeBrusk, Charlie Coyle, and Oskar Steen had another strong night. They were seemingly the only Bruins forwards with any jump for 2.5 periods, and they were responsible for more than a few chances.

  • Bad Oskar: Really dumb hit by Oskar Steen in the first period that knocked Nicholas Delauriers out of the game. Had him on the numbers all the way and knew Deslauriers was in a bad spot. Was very surprised the 5 minute penalty was changed to a minor.

  • Eventful night for Nick Foligno: Not exactly a great game for Nick Foligno. The veteran forward tripped over the red line on the power play early in the second period, leading to a Ducks goal. A few minutes later he ate a John Gibson blocker to the head during a TV timeout. A shift or two later Ducks forward Sam Carrick challenged Foligno to a fight and proceeded to one punch him. When his 5 minutes were up Foligno went to the locker room and didn’t return with what the team called and upper body injury. Tough scene.

  • Tomas Nosek has been an underrated signing by Don Sweeney: While his point totals don’t stand (3-6-9 in 33 games) don’t exactly stand out, Nosek has been a solid contributor all over the ice. His defensive awareness stands out nightly and as tonight’s assist to David Pastrnak (still hot) showed he’s got the skill to move up and down the lineup if needed. Not sure if there is a Tomas Nosek bandwagon in Boston yet but if there is I want on it

  • Top players struggle: Thought the Bruins first line was not good tonight whatsoever. Brad Marchand especially had a fairly off night other than a nice assist on a Taylor Hall PP goal. They‘ll need to regroup for Wednesday’s nights game in Colorado against a loaded Avalanche team.
